This policy covers rclone-backup, a private application registered by Michael Komodromos to back up his own files to his own Google Drive account. It is not a product, not a service, and has no users other than its operator.
The application runs rclone on a single personal computer. On a nightly schedule it uploads encrypted backup archives to the operator's own Google Drive.
The application requests the drive.file OAuth scope. That scope restricts it to
files it has itself created in the operator's Google Drive. It cannot read, modify or delete
any other file in that Drive, and it has no access to any other Google service, to Gmail, or
to contacts or calendar data.
The files it uploads are encrypted before they leave the computer. Their contents are not readable by anyone without the operator's encryption key.
None. The application has no server, no database, and no analytics. It does not transmit data to the author or to any third party. No personal information is collected from anyone, and nothing is sold, shared, or disclosed. The only network destination is Google's own Drive API, acting on the operator's own account.
The OAuth token authorising this access is stored only in rclone's configuration file on the operator's computer. It is not transmitted anywhere else.
Backup archives remain in the operator's Google Drive until deleted by the operator. Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions.
